Cafés Scientifiques are an exercise in organisation and practical citizenship as well as an introduction to contemporary issues in science and technology. Organising and taking part in the cafes will help you develop organisation, communication, design, marketing and negotiation skills, the confidence to speak in public and the ability to put your views across. If you are thinking of going on to higher education, universities will see the benefits on your UCAS form and at interview and when you go into the workplace, employers will have a concrete example of the skills that you have developed.

Alongside these practical benefits comes the confidence that you will have developed to have courage in your convictions, formulate clear ideas and opinions and put your point across – not just relating to issues around science, but to everything in your world: current events, politics, music – whatever.
